Missed enquiry cost calculator

Most businesses can tell you what they spend on marketing. Very few can tell you what happens to the enquiries that arrive and never get answered in time. Enter your own numbers below to size the gap.

Calls, forms, chats and messages combined, in a typical month.

Enquiries nobody answers, or answers hours later. Estimate if you don't measure it yet.

Average revenue from one customer, excluding VAT.

Of the enquiries you do answer, the share that becomes a paying customer.

How this is calculated
  • Missed opportunities = monthly enquiries × the percentage missed or answered late.
  • Monthly revenue opportunity = missed opportunities × close rate × average job value.
  • Annual revenue opportunity = the monthly figure multiplied by twelve.
  • Nothing else is assumed. Change an input and every figure changes with it.

Questions

About this calculator

How do I know what percentage of enquiries we miss?
Compare your phone system's missed-call log and your form submissions against the enquiries recorded in your CRM for the same month. The difference is usually larger than owners expect. If you don't have that data yet, estimate — the calculator is there to size the gap, not to audit it.
Does a missed enquiry really mean lost revenue?
Not always. Some callers ring back. This calculator applies your own close rate to missed enquiries, so it estimates the commercial value of the ones that behave like the enquiries you do answer. Treat it as an upper-bound opportunity, not a debt.
What counts as answered late?
That's for you to define. Many owner-led businesses treat anything beyond a few minutes during working hours, or anything arriving out of hours with no reply until the next day, as late.
Are the results based on industry benchmarks?
No. Every output comes from the numbers you enter. We deliberately avoid third-party benchmarks so nothing here is inflated by assumptions you can't check.
